Grapes in a Dream in Islam: Meaning by Ibn Sirin

In Islam, the meaning of grapes seen in a dream depends on their colour and their season. According to the collection attributed to Ibn Sirin, black grapes are worry and sadness out of season, illness and fear in season. White grapes in season announce the good of this world. Raisins, of any colour, are good and wealth.

The collection deals with the vine and grapes in chapter 43, the chapter on fruit trees. There it clearly sets black grapes, which most interpreters dislike, against white grapes and raisins, which announce good. In its general rule on fruit, it also places black grapes, with figs, among the fruits that have “no good in any case”.

Before you interpret your dream
Not every dream carries a meaning. The Prophet ﷺ described three kinds: a good dream, which is glad tidings from Allah; a distressing dream, which comes from Satan; and what a person tells himself during the day (Sahih Muslim, no. 2263). Frequently asked questions
Is seeing grapes in a dream a good sign in Islam?
It depends on the colour. White grapes in season and raisins are good. Black grapes are worry and sadness out of season, illness and fear in season, and most interpreters dislike them, according to the collection (vol. 2, pp. 207 and 208).
What does eating grapes in a dream mean in Islam?
The collection has no separate passage on eating grapes. It only says that swallowing black grapes, like figs, is a worry with no good in it (vol. 2, p. 365). Elsewhere, it interprets grapes by their colour and their season: white, they announce the good of this world, black, worry or illness. Raisins are good, whatever their colour.
What about green grapes or red grapes in a dream?
The collection does not speak of green grapes. It mentions red only for raisins, which are good and wealth like black and white ones. What you read elsewhere about green grapes does not come from this text.
What does a bunch of grapes mean in a dream?
According to one opinion quoted in the collection, picking a bunch of grapes means receiving gathered wealth from your wife. According to another opinion, the bunch stands for a thousand dirhams (vol. 2, p. 208).
Does the meaning change for a pregnant woman?
The collection gives no meaning to grapes for a pregnant woman and says nothing about the sex of the unborn child in connection with grapes. What you read elsewhere on this point does not come from this text.
